The gardens have new plantings!
And a great deal of time and energy was put into getting the original water feature in the rock garden up and running. Some repairs are still needed but plans to rectify that situation will be forthcoming in 2023. A butterfly garden,

2020 COMPLETED PROJECTS
MANOR HOUSE VISITOR CENTER FLOORING
2020 donations helped the Fine Furnishings Committee organize and complete the floor refinishing project for the Manor House Visitor’s Center. It has revealed a “ghost” image of a possible wall from the original structure built in 1838.
ORIGINAL “Lay of the Land” PAINTING BROUGHT BACK HOME
2020 brought the original painting back into the Manor house. Painted in 1938 by an artist named Franklin A Mahon. Generously given by the current Stewart family. Donations will now be used to clean and protect it for future generations.
THE DARK ROOM has been BROUGHT back to life
In the 1930s photos were brought to a chemist or pharmacy to be developed. The photography dark room, original to Minnie Taylor’s manor house design, was to be a unique and delightful gift to Harry II. However, his hobby was curtailed as the chemicals and silver were no longer available during the war years. We are indebted to the dedicated volunteer who researched and refurbished the room, now complete with vintage cameras, equipment, and black and white photos depicting the Stewart era.
Garden Millstone finds it’s home again
This is an original millstone from a flour mill in New Philadelphia, Ohio owned by a Stewart family member in the 1800’s. Now back on the property thanks to generosity of the current Stewart family. Thanks go to our volunteers and Stark Parks maintenance crew who placed it into the approximate garden site of the 1920’s or 30’s.
Staging of the “Flower Room”
Volunteers continued to work, as allowed due to Covid restrictions in 2020, to stage the lower level of the Manor house by building an “old”, (but new), work-table and adding decorative items for the original Flower Room. While designing the home Mrs Stewart planned for a beautiful flower garden outside. Incorporating the downstairs flower room enabled her to share the beauty throughout the home.
